Our computer area has 14 stations available to the public.   Our children’s room has 3 stations dedicated to our young patrons. The Library has wireless access for our laptop users.  We have a computer lab, with 8 laptops provided by a California State LSTA grant.  We will use these laptops to offer computer instruction to and library patrons.

The Teen Zone is dedicated to young adult literature and provides a space for our teen patrons to meet and greet as well as use our library resources.

Our Children’s Services Department provides a fun atmosphere with lots of room for the kids to be kids. Our book selection provides the latest and most popular titles along with several story-times during the week.

Our library catalog is available online where you can create an account and view your checkouts, renew items, place holds and even share your favorites with others.

Free wireless internet

Can anyone use this service?

If you have a laptop computer with a wireless interface card, you can use the free wireless system at the library. Just open your Internet browser (i.e., Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, etc). Once you have done this, the library's main page will come up and you are ready to use our wireless system.

What do I need to access the Banning Library District's wireless network?

You need a laptop computer and a Wireless Network PC Card. Wireless access uses the Wi-fi standard IEEE802.11b. After you purchase the card, follow the manufacturer's instructions to install it on your computer. This should involve installing the network card driver, and also a client utility program. This program will allow you to configure the settings for your network connection, monitor signal strength, and perform other useful tasks.

How do I log on?

"BNGLIB" is the wireless connection to look for at our Banning location. No password is required, simply turn your computer on, open your internet browser and you should be ready to go.

Can I print while using wireless?

At this time printing is not available from laptops.

Can the library help me configure my computer?

Please note that the Library cannot assist you with your laptop, card or configuration. The library cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment.
